We have all see the blog posts that begin with what are the top 10 most needed tools in a garage, the 5 best places to go during a vacation and so on. Generally these articles are biased with no real research or study behind them, but simply a users experience with title in question. Unfortunately, if you thought you were free from those types of articles, you would only be half right. Today, we’d like to explain what we believe the best app is for traveling and invite travel experts Michael Mally and Nick Alsis to tell you why it’s closer to truth than biased opinion.
When traveling, the #1 thing that has been proving to me to be my best friend over and over again is, no, not Google Maps, but Waze. Waze is a navigation GPS app for smartphone much like Apple Maps and Google Maps, but far cooler. The app is made up of a community of other drivers that have a tendency to look after one another. See a car stranded on the road? You can mark it to warn other Waze users there is a hazard. See a police officer going stealth? Let the community know he’s nearby and the app will alert everyone else. According to Michael J. Mally his favorite feature of the famous traveling app is the app’s ability to detect when you’re in slow or standstill traffic and then suggest a new route to get away from the cluster of other cars or at least attempt to. Want to change the annoying GPS narrator lady’s voice? No problem! Waze periodically gives users different voices that can be downloaded and kept. At the moment, I am using Colonel Sanders as my narration voice.
“One of the best things about the app to me is the ability to send my route and progress of driving the route to a waze friend, like my wife,” says Alsis. “This way, she can know where I am and how much time she has left until I arrive to pick her up for dinner.” Just like all apps and technology, it will never be 100% perfect. There are times when Waze will lead you around your elbow just to get to your thumb, so to speak, giving you an unnecessarily long route you know you could have shortcut through.
Overall, Waze is a winner and it sure does beat Apple and Google’s maps with accuracy and bundles of features. All four, focus assignment essay your essay on just one place.
